I have a situation in which there is cogged drive belt that is non-continous. This application is very limited for space and therefore a seperate tensioner pulley is not acceptable. The belt is about 1cm in width and never does a complete revolution. There is a mechanical device connected to a part of the belt so that it only moves linearly along a track mounted parallel to the belt. Currently we have a device that both clamps and tensions the belt; but there is not enough adjustment with the tensioning device and assembly is very difficult because there must be some tension already on the belt during assembly. So I was wondering if anybody had seen any type of belt tensioning or clamping device that could be of aid to me. I know that this is not a very in depth description of the belt system but I just need some ideas not complete solutions.
