Hi all, looking for some advice for a young design engineer in industry:
I'm looking for a simple, cheap, small-form-factor method to manufacture a hinged connection. I'd like to use a non-clamping rivet, as seen in the following examples:
Example 1
Example 2
Alternatives I've considered include Binding Posts, Architectural Sex Bolts, and Shoulder Bolts. These all have inferior vibration and misuse resilience as compared to a rivet.
How do you create a non-clamping rivet, is there a special machine or process? Any advice for specifying such a connection in drawings?
Thanks much!
