Greetings!
We generally get the equlibrium equations for the discretized continuum by minimization of potential.But does this state absolutely repreent optimum discretization.
To be more clear, if i have a 3 node line element, i can always get the equlibrium equations from minimization of potential energy.Thats fine, but does the discretized continum really represent equlibrium and its correct potential. How do i decide apriori the position of the central node(since end nodes are fixed and cannot be moved, only central node position can be changed)such that the discretized continuum correctly models its energy and also represents equilibrium.
