I've been working for a project, extending a certain building for parking purposes. Unfortunately, the As Built were lost, but somehow, we get some details of beams and columns. I am currently analyzing the structure with Etabs, How do I justify my project, as I don't have the detailed footing. Can I just say, " I assumed my base supports as my footing"?

With all the limited data I had to measure where the location of beams and columns.

PS: I am a student joining here so I can get professional advice. Thanks!

You do your analysis and design predicated on original drawings and stipulate they are not 'as built'. You can confirm parts using NDT and note that parts were thus confirmed. That's about all you can do. Generally with the exception of a few little issues, it's been my experience that 'as built' drawings are generally pretty close. There are, however, some notable exceptions. Good luck.

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Do you feel any better?
