Nitrogen for use in chemical plant

Has anyone found a way to see good pricing fofr nitrogen when your use is 12-13 MM SCF/month - we have a membrane with lqiuid backup and the liquid pricing is killing us for costs.... any suggestions?

Where are you and who is your present supplier? What kind of contractual arrangement do you have with them? Have you considered establishing your own plant for producing N2 on-site? Best regards,

I'm guessing your at the mercy of the N2 suppliers like the rest of us. They work on what is convenient to them and not the customer. Your consumption should justify supply from a gas pipeline if one is nearby. If there isn't, you'll have to look at other options.

I would recommend a PSA nitrogen generation unit. Basically your cost is the electricity to compress the air and buying the unit, for a cost around $1.50 per Mscf vs. $4.00+ per Mscf of liquid.

FYI, We have a nitrogen gas pipeline going past the fence of our property and the company won't supply us with gas. They say our demand 1.5 MMscf/month does not justify their cost to install a metering station.

we have a membrane unit and it is too small......
so we use LOTS of liquid and pay a high price for it

didy, There are two methods of getting a required utility, purchasing it from a supplier or producing it yourself. If you wish to eliminate supplier costs, then you've got to produce it yourself. That being the case, increase the capacity of your membrane system and duplicate it to provied backup, or build a LIN plant, or buy a LIN plant.
