What is the practice in designing natural gas pressure relief stacks?

I've seen only the end of the pipe bent downwards, like this:

Some recommendations here in EU are to vent vertically, but I haven't seen any of those.

I need any information about vertical NG pressure relief stacks. Please help!

The most recommended type of vent stacks are vertical design. Additionally it is the most recomended from safety point of view.

If you want a specific design criteria for design the vent see API 521 "Guide for pressure-releiving and depresurization system". A radiation and dispersion study will be necesary to determine the height and location of the needed stack. The diameter will be defined by maximum design flow.

In our company we design by own our vent stack.

This looks like an obsolete installation that would not be recommended today. If you are addressing PSV discharge headers or startup vents, most would route to a flare header.
