I am working in a SW drawing and need to create a section view coming from a detail. SW will not let me do this. The part is very small and I cannot pull another section view from the main view. Is there a setting I can change so that SW allows me to create this? I can put in an enhancement request if need be but that doesn't help me for now

Thanks in advance!

Don't know if this will help, but we often used to put a view off of the Print to the side and create the section we needed to and then hid the view that is not on the paper. It is kind of a bogus work around but it might get you through the day.

This is a limitation in SW ... one possible workaround is to create another main view into your drawing & make a section or partial section from it.

On second thought that might not help either, can you do a broken out section?????? If you put the Broken out section in a view and then do a detail of it you should be able to achieve the same result? (I think)

Perhaps this is as much an issue with your drafting practices as it is with SW.

Some suggestions:

•If it is a small part, increase the view scale so details are not crowded.

Place the most information on the views that show the least. Sometimes, it is too convenient to show all dimensions in a single view, and that view gets crowded. Try to move as many dimensions and notes as possible to views that are "underworked".

•Use staggered or stepped section lines so that section views capture as much detail as possible.

I will try the suggestions as soon as I'm finished typing this. I tried to write that out before lunch so I was brief. The part I am working on is a rubber molded diaphragm. It's a little over a inch in diameter but is very involved with many radii and changing contours. I have two nubs which are used for placement. On these nubs, they have a raised radius that also follows the diaphragm as a gasket seal. It's hard to describe but I have it blown up and dimensioned in the section view for the most part. I just needed to show the detail of the nubs and a section view of that also.

Thanks again
