I have 30 gauge wire that i need to dispense in 3 inch intervals for soldering, but I can't find anything. Is there a product that I can purchase that does this or a simple means of doing this? All the dispensers I find are for welding.
We built a couple wire choppers using secondhand welding wire feeds.
We cut braze alloy that is 50% silver from about a 0.010th to an inch or so.
We used a secondhand welding wire feed and a wheel with four cutters. We get about 197 cuts per minute with about a 2% accuracy plus or minus.
We like the welding wire feeds because they are very robust, easy to train to use and very precise. We added a timer on top. So the employee can set it and forget it.
Set the speed of feed that you want and the time the number of pieces you want then come back when it shuts down to empty the bucket.
By setting the knife a little bit further back from the anvil we draw the wire so that there is a little bit of a hook on the end which keeps it from rolling.
The one in the picture is not real pretty but it is about 25 years old.
