You do not give enough information to go on , but try looking at Pop rivet clutches.
B.E.

You are judged not by what you know, but by what you can do.

Here is more information.

A. The device that has the ratchet teeth is a very small squeeze clamp similar to the
squeeze clamps that are used to clamp down on plastic tubing in for instance an
IV or hot water bottle tubing. The clamp I am working on will be used to clamp wire
of around .25mm diameter.

B. The device is very small or around 10mm long and is squeezed by the index finger and thumb.

C. The clamp will be probably plastic but possibly metal.

D. I need any information on the design of ratchet closure mechanisms especially in regard to the relationship of the size of the ratchet teeth to the amount of force needed to engage teeth.

Here is a link to a similar clamp.
