First, you don't need C++ or FORTRAN to run patran, or nastran.
second, see in the properties of the patran link "working directory" where it's working.

thank you ...

but i don't quit understand you but if you mean where i save the files i save it on my documents and i tried to put it inside the patran in the C: directory but still not working.

please if you can be more patient and make it more clearly because i am newly with this program.

thank you

Do you have the Patran manual? The answers should be in there. There should also be some example problems to help get you started.

no i dont have this is the problem
thank you

If you have a installation problem and no manual contact MSC's support or your dealaer. I think simething i missing.

Good Luck

Thomas

no way because i got this copy from my friend so i cant contact any dealer and the support.

thank you all

what do you mean i dont understand you
thanks

italiano,

You have pirated this software, which is illegal! That is what johnhors is referring to. I suspect that most of us will be very reluctant to help at this point.

no its not like that but my friend already bough it so i think it not stolen but i dont have technical support.

sorry

If your "friend" bought the software he would have a license key to run it. The key is not transferable and you would not be able to run it on your machine. Only pirated software can run on machines without a license. It is also illegal for your "friend" to redistribute the software.

In any case, trying to learn to use MSC/NASTRAN with PATRAN with no manuals, no courses and no technical support is an admirable feat... although you have a snowballs chance in hell of doing that.

your files are most likely located in your windows\temp directory, or other temp directory.
and to run the analysis you need nastran, not patran. Having patran with no nastran is useless (unless all you want to do is make mesh).

Kudos to those who have remarked about what this guy is doing. It only hurts the rest of us that pay for the software when people pirate it. This forum is not for support for unlicensed software pirates. I guess in Italy this is common practice.

italiano:

If you have a "real" software you also have support or at least a licence key. So what you have is (best case) a worthless CD or (worst case) illegal software. For both cases I doubt that you will get much help in this forum.

fkmeyers,

do you have any facts to support this sentence? Because at first sight I find it vaguely offensive.

Pirated software is a common thing everywhere..
Although it's going to offend a few people here and there, I believe that pirated software for EDUCATIONAL purposes is ok. It's impossible to get the high-end software with all the features for learning. I learned all of my CAD from such software, but in my workplace I use ONLY legit software, and the skills I aquired using "pirated" software.

Those who sell pirated copies whould be sent to prison for a long time.

Not to change the subject but in response to Spirit, yes, someone could take offense to my comment and I take it back as it was poorly worded. However, in the EU, Italy had a 46% piracy rate as compared to Germany which was at 28% and the UK which was at 26%. The report includes Russia which was at 88%. Please reference this document...

The report was done 5 years ago and things may have improved since then.

Yes I think Russia could now be in the 90's !

On a more serious side judging by his recent absence I guess the OP has got the message, though he did spawn a useful debate on a very serious issue.

fmeyers,

the linked document is coherent with what I found from other sources. Still, a rank perfectly in line with the average piracy rate over EU (46%) in my opinion does not justify for your 'common piracy use' conclusion in Italy. On top of this, I fear this ratings include every kind of software, from entertainment to high-end engineering softwares used in industry/manufacturing.
I think in this latter field Italy is not worse than many other countries.
