Hi,

I'm designing a mechanism that can do the following :
1) able to move up and down
2) able to extend an arm forward and retract
3) at the end of the arm has a claw-like mechanism that can rotate and pull parts on the table
4) the parts should be pull into a basket and the basket will move horizontally to the side and unload the parts
5) the parts are unloaded by tilting the basket
6) the process should be repeatable

so the problem is i want to make this mechanism to have as less motors as possible ideally only one.
How should i go about designing it? I'm not using pneumatic or hydraulic, it has to be done using electric motor.

ShunXing,

You need lots of clutches and brakes. Will this be simpler than lots of motors? I doubt it.
