I need help finding a Fire Protection Engineer, preferrably in Eastern (Coastal) North Carolina, or willing to travelas an expert witness knowledgeable in fire resistance construction. Would a Structural Engineer not experienced in fire protection be qualified to determine whether or not a specific method of construction would constitute a 1-hour fire-resistant wall separation? What specific schooling or experience is required for a Fire Protection Engineer?

Recommend you contact Dr. James Milke at the Univ of Maryland. They are one of only two schools that have a Master program in FPE and he may have a contact in NC that can help you. You can reach him at 301-405-3995. Best regards.
