We are looking at advanced process control of a furnace operation. Some sort of input will be required to optimize multiple burner control, draft and air input. I'd like to analyze the combustion off gas at different locations of the furnace and am considering GC and or Mass Spec. The furnace roasts HDS and Hydrotreating Catalysts. The discharge material bears up to 1% carbon and I'd like to analyze for the carbon content of the calcined material. Perhaps something like TGA? Anyone with any thoughts or input on industrial strength process analyzers for combustion byproducts and elemental carbon analysis?

We normally use flue gas analyzers such as Oxygen and CO analyzers to optimize furnaces and boilers combustion control system. For Oxygen we use paramagnetic and Zirconia type and for CO we use Infrared type.

Also follow thread403-86296 for interesting discussion about gas fired combustion.

Thanks for the input Khan101.
