Basically,
A fellow designer states he cannot abide by the 10D rule (from NFPA 20 10x pipe diameter)since the suction and discharge piping outlets are at different elevations. This is a fire pump replacement project and the outlets for supply from water source and for discharge into facility are permanent. Thanks. I have shown him diagrams from NFPA 20, but he still concedes it cant be done. If anyone has a 3D drawing showing the 10D rule where suction and discharge are at different elevations, it would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Tim

What do You mean, it has nothing to do with the discharge, can You provide a sketch, is there too little space?
Sometimes a little less than 10d is also sufficient.
