Hi Folks,
I have a really simple question but I just need some kind of justification about it. I have 3x sill plate, and I am connecting it to a HSS beam with 5/8" dia. welded stud bolts, and my shear wall is sitting on that 3x sill plate & HSS beam.
I am simply specifying the spacing of the welded stud bolts by finding the bearing strength of the sill plate from the yield limit equation "1m"
I am thinking that this is the only condition that i need to check because there is simply no side member, and the welding stud bolt & HSS connection will not be governing since the sill plate will be failing before that.
I would be happy if you guys agree to my logic on this simple case.
Thank you,
