I'm looking for an NBR-like o-ring to be used in a consumer-goods application. I'm confused by all the data sheets found in various sites, and I need some tip from elastomer experts.
Current need is for basic black color, but I will also need other colors, like red green, yellow, blue in future. This o-ring is going to be worn on the wrist, like a watchband, and some suppliers of watchbands claim they supply NBR-217, FDA compliant elastomers.
Traditionally, watchbands have been made of some type of NBR, with hardness around 70 Shore-A. I would tend to eliminate Viton, because I also need it to resist acetone. From your chart of basic materials I oriented myself to either NBR or FKM. However, you are probably familiar with the fate of most rubber watchbands, that after one year of use tend to crack. I was wondering what particular type you would suggest for my use.
