We are currently experiencing some degradation of a NBR seal in one of our products used in the heavy truck industry. We have explored a number of different fluids that may be contacting the seal and not found anything that attacks it in the manner in which the field has been producing. It has the potential to be exposed to all the engine and transmission oils / greases as well as oil used in air line component lubrication. The failure looks almost like a melting and decomposition of the seal but the temperatures that it experiences rules that out. Any ideas?
