Hi,
Hoping someone can help with this seemingly simple question, because NBIC is somewhat vague on the topic.
We are looking to increase the Maximum Steaming Capacity on an existing boiler. There will be no physical changes made to the unit, and the existing PSV's have been confirmed to be capable of supporting the increase in steaming cap. So basically, the only change is to add an "R" nameplate with the new max steaming capacity and register an R-2 data.
Is a hydrotest required per the situation above? Seems irrelevant with no changes to MAWP, temperature, etc. but NBIC Part 3 simply says all alterations require one or more of the following examinations. I suppose NBIC Part 3 para. 3.4.1(d) could maybe be applied and the test waived?
Thanks in advance!
