Hello Everyone,

I was planning on taking the NAFEMS Registered Analyst Scheme. I have recently graduated and intend to build a career in FEA.

I was looking for some advice on how recognized the Scheme is and any other experience from you that I should keep in mind?

Thank you,
Regards.

Corus,

The Nafems certificate does state on it the type of work you are capable of doing. I know there are people who only do one kind of analysis but these people should also be capable of doing hand calculations and other types of analysis as well. I think this is taken into account when they assess the level of formal training you have had along with your experience.

It doesn't replace a good CV or a degree. However, it does separate the casual FEA users from those that take it seriously.

I keep seeing FEA mentioned in job advertisements but they also want a project manager, design engineer and salesperson all rolled into one. This comes back to company directors seeing an FEA demo and then deciding it is easy and that it can be shoe horned in along with doing the drawings and everything else. Everywhere I go I see this and it never works out.
