MTR for valve shows that materials conform to NACE MR0103. The order was for NACE MR0175 (latest revision). On questioning the supplier, a certificate of conformance was produced which said "All valves designated as NACE conform to NACE MR 0175 and ISO 15156-2 Region 3". I was just wondering if this is normally acceptable? The MTR says MR0103, but a seperate certificate of compliance says MR0175.

If the valve has anything other than carbon steel of the correct hardness in it, no. In addition, for MR0175, since it is the end user's responsibility to ensure that the materials are correct for the service conditions, the only entity that can certify compliance is the end user.

Do a search for "inquiries and interpretations for nace mr0175/iso 15156". Your supplier's statement is correct.

It's not correct because it is actually "SSC Region 3." The end user cannot simply accept the quoted statement from a valve manufacturer, even when they plaster it all over their web site. The correct statement would be: "all component metallic materials meet the requirements of NACE MR0175, A.2," (assuming that they are all carbon steel, low alloy steel, or cast iron).
