Multi-Wythe Brick Bearing Wall Restoration

I am currently working on a project where water infiltration has significantly deteriorated the outer wythe of a 3 whyte brick masonry bearing wall. The deteriorate is to the point where the outer wythe will need to be removed and replace.

Due to time and cost the contractor does not wish to tie in the new outer wythe with header courses. Does anybody know of a product such as some type of wall tie, or any method, that will work compositely with the remaining two wythes of brick.

I recently provided forensic engineering services for a home that needed to do exactly what you described. The contractor had used Simpson HELI-TIE before and convinced me to give it a try. I've worked with the contractor before and trust him.
I was very happy with the finished repair to tie the brick wythes together.

Agree with dik. Sample and test the existing mortar (where it is still in good shape) to verify lime content, etc to match. Worse thing you can do is put very hard, new, type S mortar in with old brick and soft mortar.
