Good night,

I'm trying to install MSC.Nastran 4.5 in my notebook, but I'm running into some problems. My Windows Vista is 64-bits (x64), and because of this the setup.exe refuses to run properly.

The message I get is in portuguese (I'm Brazilian), I will try to translate it here, but problably won't be "the real one" you get in English. Anyway, the message is something like:

"This file's version isn't compatible withe in execution Window's version. Consult system's informations to check if you nee a x86 version (32 bits) or x64 (64 bits) of the program"

I've already tried all the compabilitys options and none of this has worked. Is there any way I can get MSC.Nastran installed?

Of course there is, get help from MSC !

You would not buy a new car and then ask a stranger in the street where the ignition switch is, or would you?

Hi

Are you sure it is MSC.Nastran v4.5? I have worked with MSC.Nastran for Windows v4.5 but that was before or around 2000. After that it was named v200X and so on. The "pure" solver was up to v70 (I think) before it was named after the release year.

If it is from 2000, I'm not sure you can make it run on 64 bit Vista. Actually, I would be surprised if it did run.

Regards

Thomas

Yes, I am sure. You see, unfortunatly my university has no condition to renew all the programs, so they keep using some old outdated ones.

But there is no need to try and help me anymore. I've chosen the simpler solution. I installed it in an old 32-bits PC with Windows XP on it, so this problem is pretty much solved...

Anyway, thanks for the help.
