MS XAML is weird, kind of cool, but weird. So, is WinForms dead?

MS XAML is weird, kind of cool, but weird. It looks like a total replacement for WinForms. As far as I can tell so far, the only thing going for WinForms now, once XAML is released, is that WinForms run on win2k, XAML doesn't.

Hmmm, it looks like, thanks to loads of win2ks out there that I will be developing legacy WinForms for a while, which eventually I may have to upgrade to that new XAML stuff.

XAML is weird. You can do kind of cool graphics in it with 3 d graphics and it has this timeline thing that lets you do odd, kind of cool, animations. It's sort of like mixing windows development with web development. As far as I can tell, it's the new MS interface for windows apps.

Not really sure what I think of XAML yet, but it not running on win2k really, really creates a great big mess. Thanks MS.

WinForms isn't quite dead yet. Also look up XUL which is the Mozilla equivalent. It ports easily and can be easily internationalized. I've only just started on XAML. I haven't hit the woe yet but it doesn't mean it isn't there.

If you don't know what the woe is, it is when your code gets wiped by visual studio without you knowing. If you then save the project, large amounts of previously tested code disappear and you end up with a non working project. So far, this only happens with C#.
