MS threaded joint

Dear sir,

To joint the threaded MS pipe, sealant is better or Teflon tape application is good?

Available market sealant are holdtite of pedilite, etc.

Pipe application is of water line and air line

Pls suggest.

Google is not familiar with MS series pipe threads, so neither am I.

AsSumInG it is some form of tapered pipe thread, my preference is thick teflon tape for convenience and lack of mess. However, If there are components down stream that could be affected when shards and threads of teflon come adrift, some form of sealant is likely going to be "better."

Applying tape with an unusually high level of craftsmanship can reduce the risk of tape shred to near zero.

Swagelok, as an exmample, has male connector tube fittings with MS straight threads. See MS-01-140, page 18. Not sure if this helps, as the sealing principle from Swagelok (O-ring sealing) seems different from your application (thread sealing).
