I graduated with a civil engineering degree. I have been interviewing with a Oil and Gas company and I believe I have a good shot at getting an associate engineer position. However, no matter the outcome of the position I want to obtain a masters. I am not sure what degree I should study. I feel that the MS degree has more prestige when compared to the master of engineering, however I do not plan to obtain a PhD, but this may change. Any advice on the master of energy engineering program? Would I have more success with this degree? Do you think renewable energy will have a large market in the near future?

Master of Energy Engineering
"The demand for Energy Engineers continues to grow as global concerns for energy supply and efficient energy systems intensifies. The energy industry from power production to storage to delivery is covered in this master's program. Whether you are concerned with power generation, HVAC design, management of engineering projects, energy efficiency or other energy issues, upon graduation you will have knowledge that can be immediately applied on the job. When you increase your technical expertise with a Master of Energy Engineering you will expand your career opportunities."

Search many previous posts on masters degrees. Been covered lots of times.

Will depend on jurisdiction too.

Posting guidelines faq731-376 (probably not aimed specifically at you)
What is Engineering anyway: faq1088-1484

I guess my main question is...what are your thoughts on a masters in energy engineering? I searched the forum and found an interesting thread but it is closed. Please if anyone has already obtainined this degree, how has it helped your career?
