Move Pulley Assembly Without Updating?

I have an assembly which is essentially a pulley and a counterweight. Everytime I move the counter weight up or down the connecting cables do not stay attached. I have to rebuild/update in order for them reconnect to their proper positions. Is there any way I can keep all the parts attached and connected together without having to update/refresh/rebuild the part?

If the sketch geometry of the connecting cables are related to the moving parts then its not possible without using a rebuild.

In fact, I don´t think this is possible at all with SolidWorks standard tools. Maybe there is an additional Tool for that but I don´t think so.

pulley/rope

I would like to know how you did this.
I want to do something similar with fixed length rope and pulleys.
