For some reason my computers settings changed with the intall of our new server. (don't ask). I have the recommended driver for my graphics card for SW 2008. All my settings are set to low performance.

When i have a part file open, everything is perfect. Nice rotation, everything is clear, no choppiness. Whenever I open another file, (DWG, PRT, ASSY), the 2nd file becomes choppy and/or very delayed in commands. I have used about 3 different drivers for my graphics card, and all do the same. I have installed the latest that my graphics card recommends, and I have installed the drivers that SW recommends and i still have the same problem. Its like it wont let me have more than 1 file open. If I close the 1st file and have only the 2nd file open, well then its fine. I ran the SW RX to see if I had any problems, and everything gives me a green check.

Nvidia Quadro FX 540
version: 77.56 (SW Recommended Real View)

I have also used:
91.85 (SW Recommended)
169.96

I am using SW 2008 SP4.0

Something is up, because nothing has changed on my computer, and it has worked perfect in the past. Its like the first time I logged into my computer after the server was installed, SW was looking at me as a first time user. I had to redo all my personal settings and file locations.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Which SW related 'stuff' is on the server? (SNL, Toolbox, PDM, File storage, ???)

Which network/server software is being used? (Windows, Novell, ???)

Are you using PDM? Are you downloading the files locally before working on them?

All my settings are set to low performance.
Which settings?
Do you mean, "All settings are set to minimise their negative impact on SW performance"; ie. to maximise SW performance?

Have you set the video card to SolidWorks under the Applications setting?

Have you enabled the software OpenGL option? Did it improve the video glitches?

[cheers]

Yes. SW is only on my computer, not on the network.

I find that checking the Use Software OpenGL box makes a difference. I am able to access multiple files at one time, but they are still a little choppy and not as smooth as no checking it with a single file open.

It's possible that your card is going bad. One question though...did you uninstall the old graphics driver(s) before installing the new? This is something you should try if you haven't.

I unistalled the driver, and reinstalled the 91.85 (recommended by SW), and its seems to be back to normal now. I have smooth textures and smooth rotations.

Thanks for everyones help!
