Mono ammonium phosphate and calcium hydroxide

Hi i wanted to ask
When dissolving mono ammonium phosphate in water is there a chance phosphoric acid may be produced? If yes will it be acidic enough to react with metals? . Also what will be the reaction between MAP and calcium hydroxide?

Phosphoric acid will not be formed.

Ammonium phosphate is the salt of ammonia and phosphoric acid. The equation showing the dissolving of solid ammonium phosphate in water is:

(NH4)3 PO4 (s) → 3NH4 +1 (aq) + PO4 -3 (aq).

When ammonium phosphate is added to water, the compound disassociates into three ammonium ions and one phosphate ion.

Ammonium phosphate is obtained as a crystalline powder upon mixing concentrated solutions of ammonia and phosphoric acid, or on the addition of excess of ammonia to the acid phosphate (NH4)2(HPO4). It is soluble in water, and the aqueous solution on boiling loses ammonia and the acid phosphate (NH4)(H2PO4) is formed.

Ammonium phosphate is slightly acidic and corrosive in nature.



 
Thank you , i was gonna ask about the fumes generated from oven drying soil containing MAP and you have already replied it . I smelled a urine like odor which i thought was ammonia and was a bit scared about any potential explosion
