Monitoring a surface profile

I am looking for existing standard practices or guidelines on how to monitor a surface profile to verify that it matches a design curve within a specified tolerance. I have not found any military or aerospace standards addressing this, which I understand is a reverse engineering procedure using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM).

Might be wise to post link threads in the Military and Aerospace forum- don't know many of people in this forum are familiar with aerospace or military standards.

Anyway why do you need such limited standards?
