Are there any limitations or deficiencies in a modular type bridge that anyone know of?

Modular bridges can be an excellent solution for rural use and for temporary bridges (e.g. for military, mining or construction use).

Fairly large spans can be achieved, although depending on the configuration both large movement of the deck under traffic and a sagging profile can be a concern to users.

During heavy use wear can be found to pin joints and also deck panels.

A big advantage is that due to the modular construction and the possibility of launching the bridge (by pushing with a launching nose) erection can be carried out with relatively light plant, minimal construction space and a low skilled workforce (of course with good supervision)
