I am very new to Abaqus. I am trying to model a nozzle to a cylindrical shell using the abaqus. The tutorial available is not very useful, I have also searched in the videos available in you tube, but could not find a relevant steps.

Can any one help me with a sort of idiot step by step guide please
regards
Ankur

Create a cylinder. Create a plane offset from the cylinder. For the nozzle, create a hole in the cylinder, with the circle drawn on that plane (extruding the hole a 'blind' distance into the cylinder). Extrude the edges of the hole outwards to create a nozzle. Simples.

Thanks Corus.

Can you please elaborate more for creating a plan offset and creating hole in cylinder and so on as I am learning the very basic steps now.

Do you have any video showing the steps?

Thanks again
Ankur

You need to draw the circle on a flat plane, and as you have a cylinder there is no flat plane. You therefore need to create an offset plane from the global planes, ie. the XY, YZ, or XZ planes. Just set a value of offset sufficient to be clear of the cylinder radius.

On the left hand side of the screen, 3rd icon down on the right, create a hole/select plane.
