Hey All,
I'm trying to model a transfer wall that's tranferring two columns. The transfer wall is two stories in height and the story below is double height. The frame is like this, two exterior columns and two interior columns, both inline with each other, in between these columns are walls, the walls and the two interior columns terminates after two stories and the walls and interior columns are then supported by a beam which is then being supported by the two exterior columns.
I model this in SAP2000 using thin-shell elements (for the walls, columns and beam) then I applied the line load at each floor as a point load to each node of the mesh shell (I manually mesh all elements). And I input the point loads in the two interior columns from the floors above it (6 floors). I also put a pin support at each node at the bottom of the two exterior columns. I restrained (braced) in the y-direction (out of plane) at every node at all stories modeled to act the slab bracing it.
I will like to know if I am modelling this right, if not then please help! Also, I don't understand the output, what forces/ stress should I look at if I want to know if this frame works? Thank you.
PS The span from both exterior columns is 56 feet.
