I'm trying to figure out the "linked design tables" feature.
I would like to have an external Excel spreadsheet where I would change dimensions and the model should update.
I thought setting the "Source -> From File" and checking "Linked" during the creation of the design table should do it but that is not the case.
The flow of data seems to be backwards. I can modify the table from within SW and then it saves the data to the external file.
I want to modify the external file and have SW rebuild the model.
The only time this works is if I close the SW model, modify values in Excel and re-open the model. SW asks if I would like to update the model to the values in Excel.
Is there a better solution to this?
How can I drive a SW model (parts and assemblies) from an external file?
