minimum nozzle thickness using API 579?

Is there a minimum required thickness for nozzles when performing a General Metal Loss assessment using API 579-1? The software we are using checks the minimum measured thickness of the nozzle against 0.5 times the required shell thickness. It doesn't seem to be checked in the new Example Problems Manual. How do others handle this?
