The company I work for is looking to make eyewear out of a certain metal that only comes in powder form. The material is very thin metal powder (0-22mim, 15-45AM) in a 316l alloy. We have been told by our manufacturer that MIM is not possible for some reason due to the material's specifications (too thin?). Is is possible to manufacture metal glasses frames with this metal? If so, how? Obviously I am not familiar with metallurgy so any advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks

Do you mean you want to make parts from 316L powder by compaction ( and sintering) ? Otherwise 316L is available in about any form. Investment casting would be an option.
