Miles equation gives the response of a single-degree-of-freedom system to a base input where the input is in the form of an acceleration power spectral density.
The RMS acceleration response is:
RMS = sqrt[ (pi/2) fn Q Y ]
where
fn is the natural frequency
Q is the amplification factor
Y is the base input acceleration PSD at the natural frequency fn
The base input PSD should be flat within one octave on either side of fn.
One octave means that the higher frequency is twice the lower frequency.
