Does anyone know if it is possible to see the fibers in fiber reinforced concrete via a cut cross section of the slab? Assuming small stealth type fibers commonly used in residential construction.
The fibers should be visible in a saw cut, but they will be very difficult to see. If you have a broken section of concrete or even a core that can be broken the fibers should be much easier to see.
Thank you GPT. This concurs what I have heard. Pictures would be wondeful though! Also, I read an interesting technical paper which spoke of the fibers "pulling out" in younger concrete, but "shearing" in older pours. This, to me, would indicate the older the pour, the increase in difficulty to see the cross sections of the fibers.
