Micro1000 comm prob.

I have everything setup right in linx and can see mt processor there. I am usind th AB serial to mini din cable. But when I go into logix to try to communicat I get an error of - Drive (unknown) not running/configured. Cannot validate Comms Configuration.- I cant change the driver from unknown in RSlogix; under conroller properties-controller comm tab. But all is good in Linx. Its a brand new Micro 1000. Nothing on the AB web site and I have worked plenty with AB PLCs. Im frustrated. Does anyone have an idea whats wrong?

if it shows as an unknown that usually points to RSLinx not being at the same level software as the firmware that is in your micro1000.

go to this link and view

then select firmware updates
I am not sure what part number is for a micro1000. Hopefully its on the list that you will see.

This is the same old software versus firmware madness that Rockwell has created, just be aware of this exercise in the future at the beginning of each project.

Try going to Comms >>System Comms >> Who Active and selecting the processor. in rs500.

Under who active I get an alarm also that will not let me go online. And it to update firmware you have to have a support subscription to AB. Unfortunatly my cheap boss wont buy one. Thanks for the tips though guys.

I know it looks that way, but as long as you have your serial # for your software you should be able to download the firmware. Otherwise download the version of firmware for the rslinx that you have and go backwards on the firmware revision to get it to view on your rslinx. Do you have control flash?

Thanks for the tips guys. Got a differnat laptop from a differant plant this one works great. The one I was using to start is due for replacement soon.
