I get confused with the metric thread designations Rc and G. Are these equivalent to British Standard Tapered and British Standard Parallel?

Rc indicates a female tapered thread, Rp would mean a female parallel thread, and R is a male tapered. G indicates both parallel threads (the female is the same as Rp).
All are defined by ISO standards that I've always supposed to be equivalent to a British Standard, but never checked that.
