What are the pros and cons of using a metal rivnut in a FRP board in the ceiling?

I would use that rivnut to screw in a bracket which would hold up a duct.

Not sure how you would determine its load capacity. My only experience with them is adding bottle cage mounting bosses on my mountain bike frame.

Hmmm, exactly my limited experience too. I had to remove and replace a broken one on my carbon bike frame a few years back...painful to remove the back of the rivnut from inside the tube, but I could not 'live' with the loose, rattling sound.

I used them to mount fender flares on my old wrangler. Pretty handy. Hanging something over somebody's head? Not so sure...
