Dear All,

do you know why the success of a simulation of a simple bending beam with a skin layer on the uopper face is affected by the number of elements?
The case:
A beam with linear elastic properties E=10kPa, v=0.45
A membrane with linear elastic properties E=1GPa, v=0.45

Increasing the number of elements, also playing with the step settings, the simulation fails. Why???

How many elements are through the thickness of the beam? A picture of the mesh would help. Make sure you have at least 3 elements through the thickness to get remotely meaningful results. I hope this helps.

The mesh is very fine. The AGS is 0.001 m on a beam with a lenght of 0.1m. For a coarser mesh the simulation doesn't fail. I don't understand.
