Hi all,

I'll quickly explain the project I'm working on and apologise for my lack of expierence in this area!

I'm hoping to design a mammographic phantom for QA in a hospital. I've done some work already and I know what matieral I'm going to use and what depth of matieral I need to mimic a certain depth of tissue and create an appropriate grey level on a medical film.

The problem is basically how do I convert a 2-D mammogram, which represents depth in grey level, into a 3-D model (which I must then convert to STL, but thats not the current problem!) of depth of the matieral I wish to use.

I can multiply every pixel by an factor and it will then be the depth of matieral I need at that point but I'm lost as to how to construct a 3-d model in this manner.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Joe Gallagher

Was the 2-d mammogram drawn in Mechanical Desktop. If not what program was it drawn in. Can you give a more indepth explanation of what you are trying to do?
