I would like know the dew point in a pneumatic conveying duct and plan to measure this by reading the wet bulb temperature at the inlet to the fan. Can I get a fairly accurate reading with a moist wick and thermocouple. I am learning that air speed past the sensor can be important I suppose I can sling the thermocouple wire around? Are there any recommendations on how I can go about this?

Get a sling psychrometer and hold it in the fan inlet.

Agree with willard3. The velocity there will be plenty fine. If you want more accuracy, get a GE Psyclone hand-held or a Vaisala HM34 or equal.

Good on ya,
