MDX for Steel beam concrete deck bridge

Hello All

I am trying to use MDX to design a steel beam concrete slab bridge and wanted to get some help with several aspects of the design. MDX support is not the most helpful with this kind of stuff so I wanted to know if anyone else has used MDX for this purpose and can answer a few questions.

Some of them are: How to add an ADTT number for traffic count? How to change the type of support? I only see an option for integral or simply supported abutments. How to model a cantilever beam? How to add cross-bracing for deep plate girders?

Supports:
Think those are the only options - pinned or integral
Cross-Bracing:
Do you mean X-bracing between your girders? The bracing locations (spacing) are defined during the layout. The actual braces are defined in the Bracing menu.

They have a detailed manual that contains a lot of commands that are not mentioned in the program menus itself. I found it pretty helpful.

Also, if you send MDX an email with the MDX file, they tend to respond. Not quickly, but I've found sending an email, waiting a couple of days and calling typically gets you a call back.

Yes, I meant the bracing between the girders. I defined them in the layout, but the Bracings menu is greyed out and I cannot access it to define them.

OK, I will go thru the manual in detail. In my brief time working with it, I felt like it did not have detailed information, but I will try to over it in further detail and see if it can help me with the design.

I have not had any luck with emails or phone calls. Phone calls never get replied and do to voicemail and emails get a case number and then no further replies.

Sure no problem. It was tough for me when I started working on it and I'm still learning about the program.
I'm not sure how you've setup your file. Typically, it goes in order down the menu and Bracing is the last option. Just make sure the steps are being done in order and Bracing option should open up.
