We have industrial facilities (power plants) with fire mains with several wet barrel hydrants feed by horizontal fire pumps.
Our local AHJ, the fire department, states that for 2 1/2 hose connections the residual pressure must not excede 100psi, to prevent that a not very skilled fire brigade meet problems with high pressure flows. (We never pass this criteria since most of our pumps are 125-150psi sized for foam equipment, monitors, deluge systems on critical scenarios).
I know from NFPA 14 the pressure limits that governs on building standpipes, but we don´t have a criteria for hydrants or outdoors 2 1/2 connections, I haven´t seen this mentioned in NFPA 24.
Does somebody know something about hydrant hose connection pressure limits?.
