I have a project where I have to use both HF#1 and HF#2 for the same member size - beam as opposed to column - and the materials list seems to say that it has to be one or the other, not both.

How do I get it to recognize both?

Not sure I'm understanding you correctly. If you're using a different grade you would have to make sure that you have two different materials. They can have the same "species", but would have to have different grades.

If you're talking about a single piece of wood that is rated with two different grades. Then RISA cannot directly handle that. You would have to break it into two members and assign the different material properties to one member versus the other.
