On my injection molded plastic part I want the material type specified.

The part will be made of PA66 30%GF.

Is there a standardized way of doing so ?

That should be enough specification to get your mold built. You will also need to specify a color. PA66 is a vewry broad specification. That's like saying ABS. So if you have some concerns about the material properties, you may need to be as specific as the particular vendor and material number.

Hi Tuenis,

There are two ISO standards concerning this:

ISO 1043 - Uniform Symbols for Engineering Plastics

And specifically,

ISO 1874/1 Classification of Polyamides.

Gives a designation such as:

PA66, MHR, 14-100N, GF30 (Which is EMS Grilon AG.30H Black 9836)

(EMS website has a list with designations for all their materials - I assume your material supplier will be able to provide you with the same data.)

Easy eh? (not!)

Rgds
