MATERIAL RESISTANT TO 500¦C

Hi,
I have a concrete repair work and new foundation in a steel plant. I am looking for material to be added to the concerete in order to protect from heat (temp from 200°C to 500°C)

You are looking for a refractory grade cement, possibly High-alumina to BS 915. (Note - this is not permitted for use in structural concrete to BS 8110).

This is out of my comfort zone. Check with your Cement and Concrete Association, and your local cement Vendor.

Like johnp said, the high alumina content cement is used for concrete that will be exposed to high temperatures. It is rarely used, but typically used for fire department’s training facilities. Strength is compromised due to flash set, so it requires ordinary size members. I would visit another steel plant and find out how it was designed/built.
