Material Library

Hi All,
Just joined the forum so not sure how this works. Can
anyone tell me where I can get a library of materials for
Proe W3. I am designing a pick and place unit and I will
need to carry out some structural analysis on the assembly
while doing this.

Donal Budds,
You can assign the material in Pro/E. for
individual parts. Go to Edit -> setup-> Material.
Material Libray will be displayed. You can select the
material for that part.

somebody would have a library set up with the properties
for different materials.

Surely PTC can see the need for a more extended materials
library, why are they so slow to getting information too
their very loyal customers? There should be a link on their
website for this.
We have build Polycarbonate and ABS. Let me know if you
want them.

library, why are they so slow to getting information too

True, but even more, why don't they have a library of most common materials? How much time would this take them in comparison to 10,000's users taking the time to define it individually? Also another user friendly addition would be to predefine all the cosmetic thread options and be able to convert between cosmetic and modeled threads at the click of a button (and then back again). Am I dreaming? Maybe, but boy, that would be nice!

Your post come just as I'm breaking my back trying to put
something responsibly together for acetal. Achieving better
cosmetics will be a great plus for PROE.

Generally in our company we switch a lot between materials
especially since our cosmetic designers don't really care
about the materials further than it being plastic or metal.
Which means linking the cosmetic to the actual material
properties will not work for us.

Also there is excel in it showing densities..so, u can create ur own material.Because most of the time, we need to appy material for getting weight of part.

Matweb supports Solidworks and other CAD apps, but it doesn't support Pro/E.

We have one seat of Solidworks amount our 48 PROE seats. We
actually decided this morning that we are going to convert
the Solidworks material library to a PROE library. We
haven't checked it out yet, but we assume all the
information is in there to do so.

Hopefully PROE now that it starts to open up to 3 party
developers will soon start to tap into the vast amounts of
resources available in the world.
