Hello,

I am new to Composite and Polymer design, so please bear with me as I try to ask the right questions.

I am looking for information to compare various materials head to head. The ideal material is foremost repeatably autoclavable, colorable and preferably opaque, and generally inexpensive.

Given the wide range of materials where can I look to find out how many repeated autoclave sterilizations the material can handle?

In general, will the spec sheets that contain the Autoclave information also contain injection properties? The application is solid and I think injection molding is probably the most effective way to go. However, I am open to suggestions.

We currently use PPSU (trade name Radel) and have been told that it is pretty expensive. However, I have no frame of reference to compare that against. Where can I find information on the bulk pricing of the various material?

Info is much appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks Mike,

I use Matweb for other properties, could you tell me how I could search to see if it would withstand repeated autoclaving?

Here you can find a nice list of real bottles in different thermoplastics along with comments on whether they are autoclavable or not.

For pricing of just about all resins look here:
